Healing Through Connection: The 2026 Child and Youth Care World Conference Returns to St. John’s
Back in June 2013, St. John’s hosted a milestone moment for the field of child and youth care: the very first Child and Youth Care World Conference, Connecting at the Crossroads. Organized by the Child and Youth Care Association of Newfoundland and Labrador in partnership with CYC Net, that inaugural gathering set the tone for something special. Its focus on connection across geography, disciplines, generations, and practice domains resonates deeply with practitioners worldwide.
In 2026, we’re heading back to where it all began.
Even the conference logo tells this story. The 2026 design reimagines the original 2013 logo with updated colours aligned with CYC Net and a richer word cloud that now includes the 25 characteristics of relational child and youth care practice — a visual reminder of how our field continues to evolve.
The first conference brought together a remarkable mix of professionals. The energy was unforgettable. New relationships formed, new connections forged, ideas sparked, and people left feeling inspired, motivated, and recharged.
In 2026, we’re ready to build on that momentum.
Healing through Connection isn’t just a theme; it’s an invitation. To gather. To reflect. To grow. To reconnect with the roots of our profession and with colleagues who share a commitment to supporting children, youth, and families.
