The Child and Youth Care Association of Alberta (CYCAA) is proud to provide a platform to acknowledge and honour outstanding individuals who have made substantial contributions to the field of Child and Youth Care Counselling. This is a chance for our community to come together and celebrate the remarkable professionals who have demonstrated exemplary dedication and vision in their work.
We invite you to take part in this exciting opportunity by submitting your nominations for individuals who have truly made a difference. Whether it’s a colleague, mentor, or someone you admire for their visionary approach to child and youth care, this is the time to recognize their impact.
Unsure of what that looks like?
Identifying outstanding Child and Youth Care Counsellors or individuals who embody the CYC Visionary can be a rewarding experience. Here are some characteristics that might define a Child and Youth Care Counsellor or CYC Visionary:
Child and Youth Care Counsellor:
- Empathy and Compassion: Demonstrates a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by children and youth, coupled with genuine compassion.
- Effective Communication: Possesses excellent communication skills to connect with children, youth, and their families, fostering trust and understanding.
- Adaptability: Adapts to various situations and remains flexible in response to the changing needs of the individuals under their care.
- Advocacy: Advocates for the rights and well-being of children and youth, ensuring they have access to appropriate resources and support systems.
- Collaboration: Works collaboratively with other professionals, agencies, and community members to provide comprehensive care and support.
CYC Visionary:
- Innovation: Pioneers innovative approaches and practices in the field of Child and Youth Care, contributing to advancements in how care is delivered.
- Leadership: Demonstrates leadership qualities by inspiring others and influencing positive change within the Child and Youth Care community.
- Vision: Has a clear vision for the future of Child and Youth Care, identifying and addressing emerging challenges and opportunities.
- Education and Advocacy: Actively engages in educational initiatives and advocates for the importance of Child and Youth Care in various settings.
- Community Impact: Creates a lasting impact on the community by developing programs, policies, or initiatives that enhance the well-being of children and youth.
