This workshop aims to educate participants about the role of Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, effective strategies for preventing child abuse, and the essential steps to recognize, report and respond to suspected abuse.  The learning objectives include an increased understanding of Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre , increased awareness of the types of child abuse and how to recognize if a child is being abused , increased clarity on when to report suspected child abuse  and increased confidence in responding to disclosures of abuse .

Sandi Pineda-Selva holds a Master’s in Leadership and has over 15 years of experience in child abuse prevention. Currently serving as the Manager of Prevention at Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, she works to protect children and empower communities. Sandi collaborates with organizations, government agencies, and community groups to develop and implement prevention initiatives, focusing on recognizing signs of abuse, promoting healthy relationships, and creating safe environments. Her expertise includes creating trauma-informed organizations and promoting organizational health.

She blends strategic consulting, leadership coaching and Indigenous educational practices to foster authentic, sustainable relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.

Lisa’s career spans more than two decades including roles in leadership development, workplace learning, business strategy, Indigenous inclusion and governance with the Métis community. Lisa holds a Graduate Studies Certificate in Decolonization and Reconciliation Education and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Education with a focus on Reconciliation and ethical leadership while also teaching Indigenous Studies at Bow Valley College.
