Below is a message from Dr. Michelle Briegel, DHS, CCYC, President and Director of Strategic Planning, inviting CYCAA members to help shape this vital important conversation.
Dear CYCAA Member,
Across Alberta, Child and Youth Care Counsellors are showing up every day for children, youth, and families navigating complex challenges, often as the most consistent relational presence in their lives.
At the same time, we know that many practitioners are experiencing increasing demands, growing complexity needs of children and youth in care, and limited access to consistent training, support, and resources.
At the Child and Youth Care Association of Alberta (CYCAA), we are beginning an important conversation about how we can better support the workforce behind this work.
This includes exploring:
- stronger professional community and connection (including continuing to advocate for regulation)
- expanded access to training and professional development
- what it could mean to strengthen practice standards across the field
This is not about adding more expectations.
It is about strengthening the support structures around the people doing this work every day.
As a valued member of CYCAA, your voice is essential in shaping what comes next in our strategic development.
