Description:

Strength-based practice is an emerging, evidence-based approach to guiding at-risk children, youth, and families that is exceptionally positive and inspiring. During times of almost immeasurable stress it has never been more important for professionals to use and teach principles and strategies that lift up and empower the kids they serve. This engaging follow-up webinar will highlight more principles and techniques of this transforming way of responding to kids and adults struggling with emotional and behavioral challenges. Topics include:

  • Using solution-focused questions and techniques that engage and inspire
  • Core, strength-based verbal interventions & more inspirational metaphors
  • When and how to use non-contingent reinforcement (i.e. unconditional support)
  • Respectful, relationship-based limit setting
  • Strategies for maintaining staff cohesion and how to reduce and manage interpersonal staff “splitting.”
  • Strategies for Engaging and working with (challenging) families
  • The importance of controlling personal emotions (i.e. managing number one first);
  • And a host of creative cognitive behavioral strategies.
